It is my privilege to direct the talented genius that is Diana Oh in her new original and groundbreaking solo theatrical event, {my lingerie play}: Installation 9/10: THE FINAL INSTALLATION.

Still image, raw footage, and music wildly chronicle Diana Oh’s journey in intimate attire from her first f*ck me bra to the vengeful loss of her virginity, from being arrested to being followed, from FAO Schwartz to kidnapped brides in Kazakhstan, all the way to creating 10 Underground Performance Installations in her lingerie staged in an effort to make New York City a saner, safer and more respectful space for women to live in. #mylingerieplay

Caps Lock Theatre is BACK IN ACTION with our third annual PUSSYFEST event: Pussyfest III - The Reckoning. My art wife Mariah MacCarthy and I have curated an utterly fabulous line up of 139 fantastic artists and we cannot wait to share them with you.

In preparation for the fest,  playwrights are paired together with actresses and tasked with writing a custom-made monologue about the body for that performer. Check out the full list of playwright/actress pairs, directors, and musical guests HERE.

I have the enormous privilege of directing four of these monologues:
Phone Call in the Rain by Jose Rivera for Heather Robb
When the Rabbit Bleeds by Tyler Rivenbark for Madeline Chilese
Silos by Pia Wilson for Maia Karo
Welcome by Zhu Yi for Louise Flory

Sunday, November 2 at 8pm
Monday, November 3 at 8pm
Monday, November 10 at 8pm (my night!)
The Gym at Judson
243 Thompson Street, NYC

And SPECIAL THANKS to our generous and wonderful Associate Producers Daniel John Kelley and Sarah Matteucci!!

Chang(e)

I had the pleasure of traveling with the incredible Soomi Kim to Philadelphia this month as the production manager of her newest work, Chang(e).

Chang(e) is a theatrical rumination on the life and death of activist/performance artist Kathy Change who, in her final "act" to save the world, self immolated in front of a peace sculpture on the campus of UPenn  in 1996. Chang(e) is conceived as a 90 minute original devised theatre work created by performer Soomi Kim  and director Suzi Takahashi. Featuring re-enactements of the writings and performance of Change, dance video and original score, Chang(e) captures the spirit of a passionate and marginalized woman, battling her own cultural and psychological demons and the community that both enveloped and dismissed her.

Asian Arts Initiative & the Consortium of Asian American Theaters & Artists (CAATA) presented Chang(e) as a featured performance at the 4th National Asian American Theater Conference & Festival.

Featuring:
Soomi Kim as Kathy Change
With Marisa Clement, Leonardo Durant, Amy Field, Kiyoko Kashiwagi, Ben Skalski, Luke Strandquist, and special appearances via video.
Directed by Suzi Takahashi
Designers include: Lucrecia Briceno (Lights), Machine Dazzle (Costumes), Bryce Cutler (Set & Video), Suzi Takahashi (Props), and Adam Rogers (Composition) Production Management by Leta Tremblay

Wednesday, October 8 at 8 PM
Friday, October 10 at 8 PM
Saturday, October 11 at 2 PM

The InterAct Theatre Main Stage
2030 Sansom Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103

Chang(e) is currently being developed through the HERE Artist Residency Program with support from the Hemispheric Institute. This project is made possible in part by support from the National Performance Network (NPN) Performance Residency Program. NYC Premier anticipated November 2015.
