Since May 2013, I have led three retreats to The Dragon's Egg Studio in Ledyard, CT with FullStop affiliated artists to develop the textual, musical, and physical world of The Belief Project through ensemble devising techniques. We just returned from our March retreat during which we further addressed the question of "how belief translates into action." Contributing artists include: Kevin Bunge, Savvy Clement, Louiza Collins, Christopher Diercksen, Brian Dunlop, Jesse Geguzis, Mariah MacCarthy, Sean McIntyre, Diana Oh, Emily Rupp, Elizabeth Seldin, and Hannah Vaughn.
Originally inspired by the Peter Pan stories, The Belief Project is an exploration of the nature of belief in the current world climate. We are particularly interested in exploring how belief systems affect the actions of people with extremely differing viewpoints as it relates to political and social issues in a divided United States. Source material, collected through personal interviews and research, will be physicalized by employing music, dance, poetry, and prose into a theatrical collage for the stage.
New York workshop production projected Fall 2014.
This production is being developed as part of FullStop.LAB, the new devising arm of FullStop Collective. Below is an excerpt from a public showing at Triskelion Arts in September 2013.
